I think I'm saying this and/or writing it often: there are some things about here that pretty much rock. Take last night, for example.
A family in the church wanted to celebrate a 2-year anniversary of being in their home. They spent many years living with family members and many years building - now they can live their lives and faith freely. It's a beautiful thing. It's also a beautiful thing that they'd choose quirky church family with whom to celebrate. Church family has helped raise the roof (literally), move dirt, provide basic house necessities (blankets, chai glasses, etc.), and pray for provision. And church family (21 of us in all) were there to celebrate with cake and tea and laughter and games and conversation.
In a place where biological family is very tight and rarely accepting of a different faith than the norm, it's a beautiful thing to see quirky spiritual family form and grow and work out kinks. It's a beautiful thing to see our little fellowship grow in love for one another, to devote ourselves to teaching and learning from the Word, to eat and spend time with one another, and to pray and intercede for one another (acts 2.42 - ish).
I think I'm going to sing the doxology. :)
