a pleasant and physical 3 days

Sometimes - not often enough - I sit back and think how good life is. This morning was one of those times in thinking about the last couple of days.

Saturday: I was invited (in typical KS-style, it was more of a command than a question) to breakfast and dirt-moving. Honestly, that sounded like a dandy way to start a weekend, and I happily accepted the offer. I woke up at 6.45am, read and had a cup of tea, hopped on my bike at 7.30am, and was in a nearby village at 8.08am. After a yummy breakfast of eggs, roasted peppers, and tea with milk in it (the first time that was ever an option on a visit to a local family) - and cutsy lovey-dovey conversation between 2 40-something lovebirds - I went to the dirt pile to show it who was boss. N and I filled 40 wheelbarrows and made a pretty efficient team to boot. Then I showered, ate delicious chicken stew with lots of garden veggies, and helped the misses get ready for the tea. Fifteen or so ladies came around 2pm, and we had a lovely time getting to know each other better. Once I saw some pink in the sky, I biked home, ate a big dinner, and was in bed at 9pm.

Sunday: I woke up again at 6.45am, read, ordered bread at the bakery, bought ketchup and mayo, practiced worship songs with a friend, and met 8 youthies in front of the Center at 9.30am. We biked an hour to a 15th century fort, met up with other youthies, walked around, tossed a Frisbee, and cooked burgers (and marshmallows) for several hours. Once back at the Center, we had worship practice, church, and more fun lady time post-service. I then spent the night at the home of dear friends.

Monday: I woke up at 7.20am, drank Turkish coffee with 3 of the sisters, watched some Tom and Jerry, helped make pancakes, and ate a yummy breakfast. Then, from 9-12n, 3 of us chopped wood like champs. It was amazing to watch a 15-year-old hack through big pieces of wood like they were apples. It was also impressive to watch her older sister, who can't open a jar to save her life, do the same. We grunted and split and flexed and stacked and joked the morning away...

Nope - this isn't very typical. Well, maybe it is as there isn't really anything all that typical... It has been, however, quite a great way to spend these past 3 days :)
