As volunteerism isn't exactly a traditional concept here, it was pretty exciting stuff to see these youthies pick up brushes and paint - and pick up 20 huge garbage bags full of nasty. Although the whole "adventure" of getting permission, buying supplies, and securing a cement-patcher (...i was stood up 3 times...;alsdkfj) was a bit of a dizzying experience...the school does look significantly better.I know it's sort of a bandaid on a huge wound - a lot of the classrooms don't even have windows, for crying out loud - but hopefully the effort shown will mean something. If nothing else, the director, who was pretty dern suspicious at the beginning, is thawing out a bit.

It will likely be a continuous project as a few stinkers will likely put up a fight for a bit. But they don't know how stubborn I can be...hear me roar! I kind of have a mixture of rage towards these disrespectful ogres and also pity that there just isn't more offered to them to curb their crazy boredom. I'm off (in 10 min) to patch it again :)
