This year is starting off quite nicely. Something quite remarkable happened tonight at the season premier of our little English Conversation Club...

We had electricity for the first time since we started! Yeah! Yippee! Applause! No exaggeration - for months on end, we didn't have electricity on Tuesday evenings at 7pm. To my knowlege, that was the only consistent weekly power outage. Well, the pattern has been broken, and I am quite happy. It was a night without scrummaging around for a lighter, unplugging anything with high-ish voltage throughout the Center, filling the generator with kerosene, yanking generator's cord 10 times, repeating the process when the generator would quit, and scraping wax drippings off tables at the end.
Sigh. What a lovely start indeed.
(Ironic - as I clicked "post" at 11.05pm, the electricity went off. Much better now than at 7pm! I should be in bed anyway).
